Seeing and re-seeing

The home – it’s changing with the approaching summer and changing my thoughts of how I’ll live there. Somehow it’s hardly settled at all – I still feel the renter or tourist. Though I laid some physical stakes in the ground the other day by pounding in a bunch of painting hangers. - marking the virgin walls my own. I’m gathering ideas on how the house will be, what I’ll do with it.

In that pursuit I’ve been thinking of how I’ll decorate it... And suddenly came to a realization that I can put up whatever I want and like — and need tolerate no judgment of it either. The realization surprised me because I realized I’d been looking at house with my eyes and my perception of other’s eyes. Ways of seeing and re-seeing.

So, I let the seeing go a bit – searched the web for my favorite two science fiction books of all time - the cover art is by my favorite cover artist, of course, Michael Whelan, but didn’t find what I wanted. Then searched the Strand hopefully for a large hardcover version of the book with an intact dust jacket – to lovingly frame the covers. I did not find them, but found a book with both prints inside. So – there’ll be art in the house – and some of it will be all mine from that place in my heart and mind that was formed at 13. Funny that self-love is all tied to those formative moments of ones past – the floor of Waldenbooks in Newton Center MA, finding the book on the lower shelf, settling in to read and looking up as they were closing the store.

Another fridge idea - counter-depth LG under $1K

So - what do you all think of this one - an LG LRBP1031? (specifications)

For the titanium, it's about $800. For white, it's $600. (Can Titanium/Stainless Steel really cost that much?)

Cool shelves

Cool shelves... imagine something decorative like this in my long hallway.... hmm.
